Every now and then, LEGO® runs fantastic community challenges. One of the most beautiful is the "Share a Heart" challenge. The premise is simple and wonderful: share any creation where you share a heart. It's all about connection, creativity, and a little bit of love in brick form.
It's a requirement I've always loved in theory, but in practice... well, let's just say it became a bit of a saga for me.
I was always inspired, ready to participate! I'd build, photograph, and get everything set. But time and again, something would happen. Maybe Miss Brick was the one who actually placed the final piece. Or the background wasn't perfectly neutral. The shadow was too long, the lighting wasn't ideal, or some other small detail didn't seem to meet the stringent submission rules.
One by one, my attempts felt disqualified before I even hit "submit." That "this or that" perfectionism the challenges sometimes demand slowly chipped away at my motivation. Eventually, I just... stopped trying.
But you know what? I never stopped building. And I never threw the ideas away.
I kept the little "heart" creations. I saved the concepts. Because the impulse to create that small moment of joy was always more important than the official participation. These builds are snapshots of ideas, of moments where a heart was shared, even if it was just between me and my brick box.
So, here they are. A few simple builds that never made it to the official challenge, but are now shared here, with you, on The B.R.I.C.K.
Maybe they'll inspire you to try the next "Share a Heart" challenge. Or maybe they'll just remind you that the heart of building is in the doing, not just the submitting.
Don't hesitate to leave your comments below. Have you ever faced similar challenges with official contests? Do you also have a collection of "almost" entries? Share your stories!
