The Traveler’s Dilemma: Why Can’t I Find a LEGO® Postcard HERE?

We’ve all seen them. Those beautiful, intricate, and utterly collectible LEGO® postcards—tiny mosaic masterpieces celebrating cities like London, Tokyo, Paris, or New York. You walk into a LEGO® store in, say, Berlin, and there it is: the Berlin skyline, captured in studs. Perfect.

But then you travel somewhere else—maybe Bristol, Lisbon, or Seoul—walk into another LEGO® store with that same hopeful feeling, and what do you find? The exact same postcards. Maybe you’re in Portugal staring at a postcard of Italy. Or in Canada, picking up one of Japan. It’s fun, yes, but also… a little disappointing.

How many of us have thought: Wouldn’t it be amazing if each LEGO® store had its own local postcard?

Imagine: you visit a city, explore its landmarks, then pop into the LEGO® store and find a unique, official postcard of that very place. A brick-built bridge, a historic square, a local icon. It would be the perfect souvenir—a creative, tangible memory of your trip, made by the brand so many of us love.

The Collection That Could Be

For many of us, collecting souvenirs is part of the travel experience. Magnets, pins, patches… but what if LEGO® collectors could hunt down local LEGO® postcards? It would turn visiting LEGO® stores into its own kind of treasure hunt. It would make sense: you go to London, get London. You go to Barcelona, get Barcelona. You visit Copenhagen… well, you get the idea.

Instead, we often find the same “greatest hits” in every store. Beautiful, but not personal. Not local.

What If You Could Make Your Own?

This brings us to another idea: what if LEGO® encouraged fans to design their own hometown or favorite city postcard? With the rise of LEGO® Ideas and fan designs, could there be a platform or a contest for custom postcard creations? The community is full of talented builders who could capture the spirit of lesser-known cities or special places.

Maybe there could be a “Build Your Town” initiative, where selected fan designs get turned into official postcards sold in that city’s LEGO® store. It would celebrate local pride and give travelers a truly unique keepsake.

What Do You Think?

We’d love to hear from you:

· Have you ever looked for a LEGO® postcard of the city you were visiting and been disappointed not to find it?

· Would you be more likely to collect LEGO® postcards if they were unique to each store location?

· Have you ever tried designing your own LEGO® postcard of your hometown or a special place?

· Which city or landmark do you think desperately needs an official LEGO® postcard?

Drop your thoughts, dreams, and design ideas in the comments below. Let’s build this idea together—one brick, and one postcard, at a time.

Happy building and happy travels!
